MedoPolo students completing a medical internship in Zanzibar can arrange accommodation close to our partner institution, Real Care Hospital in Nungwi. The available student housing is located approximately 300 metres from the hospital, allowing students to stay within walking distance of their clinical placement.
Living close to the hospital makes the daily routine easier while also providing direct access to Nungwi and the northern coast of Zanzibar. In addition, students remain close to local shops, restaurants and the wider tourist infrastructure of the area.
Accommodation Near Real Care Hospital
Accommodation arranged through the hospital or local partner is available for international medical students. Depending on the selected room and current availability, the accommodation may include the following facilities:

Living in Nungwi During Your Medical Internship
Nungwi is located on the northern coast of Zanzibar and combines everyday local life with one of the island’s best-known coastal areas. Consequently, students can live close to their medical placement while also having easy access to the beaches and leisure opportunities of northern Zanzibar.
For students spending several weeks on the island, living near the hospital can reduce daily travel and make it easier to participate in clinical activities. At the same time, weekends and free days can be used to explore other parts of Zanzibar.

Students are not limited to accommodation arranged through the hospital. Alternatively, independent guesthouses and apartments can be considered depending on personal preferences, budget and availability.
Students who choose independent accommodation should consider the distance to Real Care Hospital, transportation options and the practical requirements of travelling to the hospital on working days. Therefore, accommodation in or close to Nungwi is generally the most convenient option for the clinical placement.
