Are you prepared to embark on a medical elective adventure in Sri Lanka? Experience the culture and daily life at one of our teaching hospitals! Below, you’ll find all the information you need to apply for your clinical elective internship and begin your international medical journey. Consequently, our programs combine rigorous medical shadowing with vital global health insights.
Required Registration & Application Documents
Please send us all of the following documents as PDF files via email to application@medopolo.com to complete your submission:
- Letter of recommendation and good standing from your university / medical school
- Academic transcript of your university / medical school
- Curriculum Vitae
- Letter of motivation
- Passport copy (We can NOT accept National ID Cards!)
- Passport-style picture for your student-ID
- Proof of Health insurance (covering your stay in Sri Lanka)
- Application Form (upon request)
- Bank Receipt for the transfer of the Application Fee
Application Sri Lanka Guidelines & Policies:
Please note that the application process is solely electronic. Therefore, no original physical documents are required. Please submit your complete application after sharing your educational plans with the foreign student office of your home university to make sure credit is granted. The application fee is non-refundable and covers document processing.
- Most importantly, please observe the application deadline, which is at the latest 6 months prior to the intended starting date of your internship. Alternatively, a Rush Application is possible up to 3 months prior your intended starting date.
- Please indicate if you wish to reserve MedoPolo student housing. Alternatively, you may arrange for private accommodation yourself.
- It is mandatory and your responsibility to obtain suitable health insurance covering your entire stay in Sri Lanka beforehand. In fact, without suitable health coverage, you will not be able to start your clinical placement. Please be prepared to show proof of insurance on request.

Program Accreditation:
Applicants are solely responsible for confirming that their home institution will accept the internship credits. MedoPolo International Elective Programs cannot guarantee credit approval, as regulations vary greatly by university. We strongly recommend discussing your plans with your university prior to submission. Furthermore, we can liaise directly with your home university’s responsible office if needed.
